அட்டகாச அக்டோபர்  

அக்டோபர் மாதம் எங்களுக்கு அட்டகாச, அசத்தல் மாதமே,

எல்லோர் மனமும் களிக்க, 

பாச மலர்கள்,

மும்மூர்த்திகள்

கீர்த்தி பெற்று ஜொலிக்க , 

ஜனித்த மாதம்.

நேசம், பாசம் , எங்கள் வசம் வாசம் செய்ய , 

முன்னுரை இன்றி அச்சாரமாக

அக்டோபரில் அவதரித்த 

முத்தான மூன்று மலர்கள்.

முத்தான மும்மலர்களில் , முதலாம்  மலர்.

 *அக்டோபர் எட்டு : வின்னர் விட்டல்* 

எட்டுத்திக்கும் எங்கள் வாசம் என்று,

உலகத்தையே வலம் வந்த வள்ளலே

நில்லாது நித்தமும் (உலக) நிலம் அளந்தவரே , 

இன்று பெருங்குடியே

குடில் என்று குடித்தனம்.

வாய் சொல்லில் வீரரே ,  தங்கள் பாச வலையில், எங்களை வீழ்த்த,

உங்களுக்கு நங்கூரமாக  மனதில் கூடாரம் அமைத்து குதூகலிக்கின்றோம்.

என்றும் இதே புத்துணர்ச்சியான ,

பொலிவுடன் வாழ வாழ்த்துகிறோம்.

முத்தான மும்மலர்களில் ,  இரண்டாம்  மலர்.

 *அக்டோபர் பதிமூன்று. சாதனை சாமா* 

பசுமை துறையில் இளங்கலை பயின்ற , இளவலே

இலகுவாக ஜாவாவை வா வா என்று வசியபடுத்தினாய்.

உந்தன் கலகலப்பு  வார்த்தைகளில் மயங்கி , தாரை வார்த்தோம் எங்கள் இதயங்களை.

தந்தையின் ஆங்கில புலமையை தப்பாமல் தத்து எடுத்தாய்.

மடை திறந்த வெள்ளம், எம்மாத்திரம் உன் பேச்சுக்கு முன்னே , 

அதுவே சாட்சி உன் நண்பர்கள் வட்டம், அன்பர்களாகி, மாவட்டமான காட்சி.

என்றும் பசுமையான இளமையாக, வளமுடன் வாழ நல்வாழ்த்துகள்.

மும்மலர்களில் , மூன்றாம் மலர்.

 *அக்டோபர் இருபது. லட்சிய லல்லி* 

பாச மலர்கள் அனைவரையும் பேச வைத்த பதுமையே ,

உனக்கு வானமே எல்லை

ஆயகலைகள் அறுபத்து நாலு

அத்தனையும் உன் கைகளில் ,

வளையல்லாக அடைக்கலம் ஆன வளைகாப்பு.

உன் எண்ணங்கள் வண்ணங்களாக ,

கைகள் மூலமாக அழகான அணிவகுப்பு.

உன் கணினி தரும், ஒலி, ஒளி 

உள்ளத்தை கொள்ளை கொள்ளும்

அறிவொளி

பாசங்களை பட்டை தீட்டி , வைரங்களாக மின்ன வைக்க, என்னே உன் வைராக்கியம்.

நீ "பாச மலர்களை" மனதில் நட்டு , நித்தமும் உறவு என்ற உரம் ஊட்டி

பூத்து குலுங்க வைத்த தமக்கையே

என்றென்றும் புதுப்பொலிவுடன் உன்

முகம் மலர , விழைகின்றோம் , வாழ்த்துகிறோம்.

Women power

Women all over the world are breaking the glass cieling, becoming corporate honchos entering into domains that were hitherto exclusive fiefdom of male such as airforce pilots, naval commanders, astronauts, sport referees umpires and what not. Gender equality is evident in corporates and is making rapid strides in middle and upper class India though we still have a long way to go.

 

However we still suffer the hangover of a  feudalistic mindset, overlaid onto a patriarchal grid, which renders women  vulnerable to viciously blatant misogyny.

Police who are supposed to be the guardian angels bulwarking women against sexual assault and other oppressions, are more often than not are the perpetuators of flagrant violations to women's rights.

Complaints against the violaters evoke perfunctory laconic responses from higher authorities leaving the victims all the more embittered and they end up being inured to such transgressions.

Kamala Harris for Veep

When Joe Biden announced that Kamala Harris will be his running mate, the Indian diaspora in the US felt that their 'holy grail' moment had arrived and are chafing to see the  daughter of their soil in the saddle. The Tamil fraternity across the globe went into a frenzy when she referred to uncles and "chithis" of her family in her acceptance speech.

The Indian Americans predilection to see a PIO on the coveted post is based on the hopes that she will be buttressing and future proofing their livelihood in the land of Uncle Sam.

Just because her roots are from India and her maternal kith & kin  are still there residing in a quaint old houses in India you can't be gung ho that KH will be pro India.  It's irrefutable  that this ideology is not  germane to her line of thinking. If you look at her past statements on Kashmir and on Modi we can say with certitude that she would slam dunk this belief in no time. 

Being committed to liberal politics and her constituency being in her backyard in US she would naturally tread cautiously on sensitive issues involving India and steer clear of being labelled pro India else she would have to face the music from political gadflies who are by nature implacable.

This too shall pass

This too shall pass.....

What a sea change has this  mighty tiny thing  brought to this world!

"Freeze!" said this tiny thing

And.... 

The mad rush froze

The hustle and bustle ceased 

The big and bold halted 

Dear and near departed.... 

As we wait for the change, 

Trying to cherish this silence

And hoping this too shall pass... 

This reminds me of the  poem which I wrote few years back.

Freedom in a Cage

 (SWOT theory!) 

There was a little mouse

That rattled in my house

So I planned to have a trap

To catch that little brat.

One, two, three : days passed.

I kept changing the bait,

But the little monster made me wait !

And then one fine morning

There, that tiny creature

Caught in his new adventure

Inside the trap ! No way out to venture !

The mouse began to squeak and curse

The Trap, Trapper and The Trapped !

Weakness and Threat ahead

The poor mouse felt doomed.

Then the Climax !

There came a sound  “mieow…”

The mouse froze in panic

Up and down, right and left

Is there a way out..?

Mieow.. Mieow …..  oh No

The little fellow shrunk in dread

The Cat’s hungry eyes glared

And frowned….

This little prey is SAFE !

Ah Yes ! It dawned on the mouse !

 I ‘m FREE !

Oh yes  ! He grinned with glee

I’m trapped But I’m FREE ! !

Watching this, I realized

Strength comes from Weakness

Opportunity from Threat ! 

That’s What is SWOT

Transitioning to senior citizenhood

Transitioning to senior citizenhood

Guys who are in the cusp of being senior citizens are a bewildered bunch vacillating between acceptance of having crossed the 60 milestone and not letting go of their 50 plus status. 

On one side they enjoy the perks of being a senior citizen like concessional travel by train, flights whatever and also additional interest rates but on the other hand they are in a denial mode of their age unable to come to terms with not being able to rub shoulders with their younger colleagues anymore. However they need to realize that it's not the end of the road (cul de sac). 

We have umpteen instances on either side of the spectrum. At a time when most people are hanging up boots some intrepid seniors embark on new businesses and turn entrepreneurs while a few others put their heart and soul for serving the underprivileged. 

Being grumpy and doing nothing other than being an armchair critic and trying to shove unsolicited advice down the throat of others is nothing but exceptional depravity.
